Dear friends,
It is always a pleasure to present the achievements of the Elena Barraquer Foundation and to confirm that we continue to grow: in 2019 we have carried out 9 assistance expeditions operating a total of 2,631 cataracts. We already have 26 ophthalmologists who have joined the project, some as surgeons and others attending the consultations, 7 anesthesiologists and countless volunteers.
The local team, essential for the organization of the campaigns, continues to be directed by Teté Ferreiro and has new incorporations such as María Bertrand, coordinating the logistics of the expeditions, Miriam Pascual and Maite Fernández, both in charge, together with Mevi, of the medical material and preparation of the luggage.
Our Solidarity Bazaar has also grown and has become Elena’s Shop, currently being a great source of income to carry out our projects. Elena’s Shop is fed by donations from companies and individuals and is managed by a team of 16 volunteers.
Among the various events of this year I would like to highlight our special sales for friendly foundations: for Fundación Ibo after the hurricane that devastated the island and for Africa Digna.
Besides thanking all our donors for their constant and indispensable help, I would like to mention our renewed partnership with Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company: the impeccable organization of the expeditions carried out with them has allowed us to maximize their performance.
I hope these lines are interesting enough for you to continue reading our 2019 Report, encourage you to continue supporting us and participate in the dissemination of our work.
Together we will make it happen! #nomorecataracts.
A big hug always full of enthusiasm and light,
Elena Barraquer
