Guatemala 2025 – A Bittersweet Feeling

End of the last campaign of the year: 99 cataract surgeries performed

We leave Sololá with the painful feeling of not having been able to offer even a small part of everything we had prepared. The lack of recruited patients, which was the responsibility of our local partners, meant that the days passed with surgical activity far below what we are used to, what had been agreed upon, and what we had prepared our team and materials for.

In a country with one of the lowest per capita incomes in the world, where needs are enormous and resources are extremely limited, this situation is even more painful, because we could have helped many more people who truly needed it.

Hopefully we can move towards a model of cooperation in which goodwill continues to be essential, but where professionalism becomes the pillar that guarantees real and sustainable results.
