In developing countries, 4 out of 5 people who are blind may not be. Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness in the world.
Fundación Elena Barraquer organizes surgical medical expeditions to remote parts of the world to carry out cataract surgeries in order to restore sight. Our commitment to reduce that number, and therefore collaborate with economic and social development, is the reason for our work.
The Elena Barraquer Foundation, during its expeditions, only operates cataracts. It does not carry out training or treat other pathologies.
