Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (1977). She continued her training in the United States, with a research grant from the National Eye Institute (Bethesda, Maryland). She continued her curriculum as a Fellow in the Ocular Pathology Laboratory of the Wilmer Eye Institute (Baltimore), as a resident in Internal Medicine at the Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, and from 1984 to 1987 she trained as a resident physician in Ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary (Boston). He then completed a two-year Cornea Fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (Miami), and settled in Turin (Italy) at the end of 1989.

He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Spanish Chapter of the Club of Rome.
He chairs the Fundación Conde de Barcelona, is First Vice-President of the Sociedad Económica Barcelonesa de Amigos del País, is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA) and is a director of the Museum of Modern Art of New York (MoMA).
He is also Second Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of CriteriaCaixa and a trustee of the ‘la Caixa’ Banking Foundation.
Experienced ophthalmologist with over 35 years in diagnosing, treating, and managing ocular diseases and disorders. Specialized in refractive surgery, cataract surgery, and retinal diseases. Dedicated to patient care and continuous improvement of surgical techniques and ophthalmological treatments.

Residency in Ophthalmology, Hospital Príncipes de España and Hospital Universitario de Bellvitge (1976-1980).
