During this mission, our medical team performed 330 eye surgeries, providing specialized care to communities with very limited access to this type of service. This result reflects our ongoing commitment to improving visual health and quality of life for people where it is most needed. Here are some testimonials from our volunteers:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing part of the Elena Barraquer Foundation expedition to the Congo was a unique experience. We operated on dozens of people with cataracts in conditions very different from those in Spain. Seeing how they regained their sight almost immediately was exciting and reminded me why I chose medicine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a volunteer with the Elena Barraquer Foundation in the Congo, I was able to see the direct impact of the work on the ground. From organizing the mobile operating room to accompanying patients in their recovery, each day was intense and rewarding. I returned with enormous gratitude and the certainty that I would participate again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing part of the Elena Barraquer Foundation team in Congo has changed my life. From preparing instruments to accompanying patients before and after surgery, every moment was a learning experience. Seeing someone open their eyes and smile when they regain their sight is priceless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParticipating in the Elena Barraquer Foundation\u2019s mission in the Congo taught me the true meaning of teamwork and empathy. Although resources were limited, the team\u2019s commitment and professionalism made it possible to restore sight to many people.
